Working closely with architects John Thompson and Partners, we prepared a detailed economic and spatial strategy to support a masterplan for the redevelopment of Dalian’s eastern coastal periphery. The proposed redevelopment, adjacent to the CBD of Dalian City, is substantial in scale incorporating former docks, shipyards, commercial zones, areas of natural beauty and a large petrochemical plant. The economic study involved significant data collection, analysis and interpretation of primary and secondary data sources, in order to best appraise alternative uses for the site.

The Cutty Sark cuts a dramatic outline on the bank of the River Thames; an iconic reminder of Britain’s proud maritime history and the importance of the sea in the country’s economic development. Following a colourful past, then years of neglect, a comprehensive programme of conservation began in 2004, and has seen the biggest overhaul of the Grade I listed landmark for 50 years. In addition, plans were drawn up for the development of a new event venue designed to play a major role in securing an ongoing income which would protect the Cutty Sark for the enjoyment of future visitors for years to come.

The new Riverside Museum, Scotland’s Museum of Transport and Travel, is located on a dramatic site at the point where two rivers, the Clyde and the Kelvin meet, close to Glasgow Harbour. As well as providing a permanent home for collections not previously on public display, the new museum exhibits the contents of the old Glasgow Museum previously held at Kelvin Hall. Kelvin Hall was the second most visited attraction of its type in the UK, with half a million visitors a year, so the new Riverside Museum is well placed to become a world-class cultural destination.
