Buro Happold projects win 8 categories at the Scottish Design awards

The recent Scottish Design Awards ceremony was a night to remember for multidisciplinary engineering consultancy Buro Happold, as they notched up an enviable total of eight awards for projects based in Scotland and Ireland.

The consultancy’s work on the new Wexford County Council offices in Ireland proved popular with the judges, winning both the coveted Chairman’s Award for Architecture, and the Commercial/Office Building or Project award. The building which has achieved BREEAM Excellent, is no stranger to plaudits, having also won the International Project category at the recent Civic Trust award.

Buro Happold also received the Engineering Design prize for another greatly lauded project, Glasgow’s Riverside Museum, for which the consultancy delivered both the structural and building services design.

Buro Happold was also involved in the delivery of another four award winning projects which took five category wins between them:

• Scottish National Portrait Gallery - Leisure/Culture Building or Project working with Page\Park Architects
• National Museum of Scotland Redevelopment - Leisure/Culture Building or Project working with Gareth Hoskins Architects Limited
• New Headquarters for the Hillcrest Group - Commercial/Office Building or Project working with Nicoll Russell Studios
• The Royal Commonwealth Pool Edinburgh - Re-use of a Listed Building working with S&P Architects
• New Headquarters for the Hillcrest Group - Sustainable Design working with Nicoll Russell Studios

The annual Scottish Design Awards are organised by The Drum and demonstrate the best of Scotland’s engineering, architectural and graphic design talent.
