Green light for giant botanical garden in desert: King Abdullah Gardens design wins International Property Awards and goes out to project tender A joint venture between leading British consultancies Barton Willmore and Buro Happold has completed the design for the ‘King Abdullah International Gardens’ (KAIG) – a giant botanical garden commissioned by the City of Riyadh as a gift to King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia to celebrate his accession to the throne.
Matthew Pinsent opens Langley Academy The Langley Academy, designed by Buro Happold and Foster + Partners, was officially opened on 12th November by Sir Matthew Pinsent CBE. It is an exemplar of sustainable design, a theme which is showcased by the building itself. The first academy to specialise in museum learning, it also highlights rowing, cricket and science in its curriculum.
Dorset bypass modelled using airborne lasers Buro Happold commissions Bluesky to survey Bere Regis from the sky Dorset’s A35 and C6 roads form a crucial link down to the county’s south coast. With a view to improving this link and therefore relieving seasonal congestion on over-capacity neighbouring routes, Dorset County Council has commissioned multidisciplinary engineering consultancy Buro Happold to prepare a feasibility study into bypass options for the village of Bere Regis.
Buro Happold supports BT Tower face-lift BT has installed a giant electronic information screen at the top of the iconic BT Tower in London. The 360 degree LED screen – which is believed to be the highest of its kind in Europe and the Americas – will be used as an information band, showing messages that will be visible from various locations across the city. Buro Happold provided structural engineering and facade engineering services. |
