Fire Engineering for Airports

Airports are becoming increasingly complex and multi functional spaces, not only providing an arrival and destination point but also offering exciting retail and catering facilities. Terminal buildings often consist of large, open spaces with tens of thousands of people moving through them at any one time, and ensuring their safety in the event of a fire is essential.  Designing a successful fire strategy for airport buildings is a challenging process, requiring a flexible and imaginative approach.

Our fire engineers are able to utilise thorough knowledge and experience of airport buildings to develop innovative designs, as well as working closely with other experts such as people movement consultants and IT specialists to create tailored solutions.  Use of cutting edge technology - such as our in house software Vulcan, a unique finite element fire modelling tool that allows us to measure the performance of buildings under fire conditions - allows us to develop unique fire strategies modified for specific projects. We continually adapt our solutions to keep up with the changes in airport design and construction, fulfilling the client’s needs and ultimately providing safety and security for the passenger.
