Successful acoustic design in airport buildings is a necessity for both occupant comfort and operational functions, incorporated in both building design and audio communication systems. Buro Happold’s multi disciplinary work in the airport sector allows our acoustic engineers to work with other specialists to ensure innovative design solutions for airport buildings at all scales. We develop designs using a mix of the latest software tools and a practical background of audio systems for demanding environments, including experience with the latest signal processing and sound reproduction technologies.

Our work on creating successful airport buildings includes designing solutions that improve the internal environment for both passengers and staff. This work includes innovations such as developing effective sound insulation constructions suitable for long span roofs, and developing glazed facades that provide a high level of sound proofing. Internally our engineers have developed and continue to improve communication strategies to ensure that highly effective PA systems are installed, allowing the successful delivery of operational and emergency procedures.
