Our practice of working closely with contractors means we can assess the feasibility and buildability of a design in order to secure the necessary technical and planning approvals.

A bridge has to be built to a high safety standard – and remain safe and durable throughout its life. Our consultants undertake design reviews of new projects (looking at aspects such as load capacity, impact assessment and life expectancy) as well as carrying out independent Category III checking of existing structures in accordance with the requirements of the Highways Agency, Network Rail and local authorities.

The management of bridges and other highway structures (eg. retaining walls and underpasses) includes inspection, strengthening and maintenance. We inspect and report on the structural condition of all types of bridge using both visual inspections and cutting edge digital technology. As well as looking for any defects or signs of stress, our engineers assess the feasibility of any proposed adaptations and provide designs for strengthening or remedial works.

We also provide post-design construction supervision services to clients either on a full time or part time basis. The range of services includes on site inspection, monitoring of construction, checking and recording of construction activities, sign off, activity schedules, snagging and completion. Our team combines expertise in bridges and special structures with a wide knowledge of current UK, European and US standards.
