Health & Safety Management enables organisations to meet their legal duties to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for their employees and others who may come into contact with their business operations. Working as part of Buro Happold’s Asset Management Group, our Health & Safety team delivers bespoke management systems that address an organisation’s specific business needs. Our service can be at a strategic level or be integrated into our client’s management structure, and covers general Health & Safety as well as early assessment and control of commercial, financial and operational risks.
With an increasing emphasis on Health & Safety compliance, we are able to give expert help on statutory requirements for safe construction/demolition and occupational health. It’s vital that staff are aware of their responsibilities, so we provide safety advice and training to enable them to safely carry out the task in hand, carrying out risk assessments where there are specific hazards such as chemicals or extreme noise. Using our extensive knowledge of the legal requirements we are able to develop health, safety and environmental risk management strategies into a corporate governance framework.
Safety audits and inspections allow organisations to bridge the gap between their current performance standards and their statutory legal obligations - an audit is a valuable management technique and is recommended by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE). Following an examination of the organisation’s management policies and procedures and a site inspection tour, we produce a detailed report and recommendations that identify areas where existing procedures can be improved. We also provide accident investigation services in accordance with HSE guidelines.
Buro Happold uses computer databases to record, control and monitor the progress of projects. We also monitor the progress of works on site using specific planning and programming software applications. All Buro Happold offices have access to a central resource for searching for specialist information that may be required on any health, safety or risk related issue. Our team consists of experienced professionals who have achieved member status of the Institute of Occupational Safety & Health.
