Facilities Management

Buro Happold’s facilities management consultancy utilises a wide range of in-house knowledge and experience to bring added value and functionality to the built environment. Facilities management involves the provision of agreed levels of quality support services at an appropriate cost to meet a client’s commercial needs. Our aim is to allow occupants to concentrate on their core activities by managing the essential – yet peripheral – business of operating, running and maintaining a building.

Our multi-disciplinary team provides both strategic and hands-on facilities management consultancy to clients in all building sectors. To deliver and maintain services in an efficient and cost-effective way throughout the life of the building we draw on our in-depth knowledge of the varied engineering and operational processes, including MEP systems design, procurement, contracting, risk analysis, health & safety and sustainability.

Buro Happold adopts a holistic approach, integrating people, processes and technology to provide optimum choice, functionality and economy. Our involvement at an early stage in a project allows us to develop and implement strategies and procedures that are specifically tailored to the needs of the building – and the client’s budget. The aim is to realise the building’s potential in the vital areas of systems performance, user comfort, operational efficiency, energy usage and future flexibility.

Our consultancy services typically cover property management (eg. pre-acquisition surveys, environmental audits and preparation of asset registers); building design and construction (eg. commissioning of engineering systems, employer’s agent services and new works design and management); building operation (eg. management of maintenance operations, procurement of contractors and defect analysis); plus procurement and management of ‘hard’ and ‘soft’ facilities support services.
