Rail projects are rarely single disciplinary in nature and require a diverse mix of engineering disciplines to be successful. For example, people movement, fire engineering and disability access requirements often need to be considered at the beginning rather than the end of the design process .Our rail sector is ideally placed to embrace these multi-disciplinary skills and provide holistic, coherent and integrated design solutions.
We are also highly experienced in the constraints and procedures for working above, below or adjacent to an operational railway. With the aspiration for a 7-day railway, we are very conscious of the need to minimise possession times, identify and mitigate risk and even get involved with temporary works design.
We are aware that the long term future of rail and its sustainable growth is largely dependent on doing things better, at lower cost and more efficiently. We are currently developing modular solutions, based around a proven and successful Buro Happold patented technology adapted to the benefit of stations car parks and bridges.
