Buro Happold’s bridges and civil engineering structures team was commissioned to design an access bridge at the site of a 76,000m² Paragon Telehousing facility adjacent to the elevated section of the M4 in Brentford. The bridge forms an underpass into an underground car park, planned as part of the future development of the site.

In line with the Highways Agency’s guidance the bridge is integral with its supports and so requires no bearings or expansion joints, which greatly reduces maintenance costs. Buro Happold carried out the detailed design, geotechnical and civil engineering aspects of the project, including a ground contamination assessment.
