Kuwait University City

Buro Happold was commissioned to provide masterplanning services for Kuwait University’s new campus.

This high profile project enabled the consolidation of the previously disparate colleges into one purpose-built campus. Masterplanning presented a variety of challenges, including responding to difficult climatic conditions, ensuring site security and meeting sustainability guidelines.

Access to and within the campus was also a key consideration, so our transport planning team carried out traffic engineering studies to ensure that the large car park, buildings and spaces are connected by a safe network of link roads and walkways. To be built on a 1,285 acre undeveloped site, the campus will include16 colleges, support facilities and accommodate 30,000 full time students and staff.
