Baltimore Footbridge

This eye-catching, lightweight footbridge is a cable stayed structure set at an angle of 45 degrees between two adjoining piers within Baltimore’s inner harbour. It has been constructed to provide an additional pedestrian link between two aquaria sited on the piers, and forms a key part of the ongoing redevelopment of this popular downtown waterfront location.

The structure consists of two masts located at opposite ends of the bridge about 15m from the bulkheads. They are positioned on opposing sides to provide a dramatic asymmetric arrangement for the cable stays that support the 30m mid-span. Designed only for pedestrian traffic, the deck is constructed using recycled redwood timber and the bridge is stylishly finished with polished stainless steel rigging.
