Buro Happold provided masterplanning, multi-disciplinary engineering and infrastructure services on this public sector project to house a new 80,000 seat Irish national stadium.
The huge 200 hectare green field development, situated on the outskirts of Dublin, also incorporates a number of new sporting academies and arenas. Environmental sustainability and energy efficiency were high on the project agenda and formed an integral part of the design support.
Another important consideration was ensuring access to the site via the city's existing road and rail network. After carrying out a full transport assessment, we oversaw the construction of a new motorway junction to feed the Campus, along with designs for the development of on-site infrastructure including roads, servicing and car parking. Buro Happold also provided extensive landscape and earthworks design for the surrounding parklands.
