Louis Vuitton Stores

Exclusivity and image play a vital role in both Louis Vuitton’s product range and its store interiors, and Buro Happold has provided design solutions for a number of stores.

The construction of a 150m2 store in Nuremberg presented Buro Happold’s specialist Lighting Technologies (LiT) team with the difficult challenge of showing Louis Vuitton products off to their best, while maintaining the consistency of the brand’s exclusive ‘aesthetic’.

As part of the solution, various light sources were integrated into ceilings, walls and furnishings. Designs by Buro Happold's Berlin engineers even neatly concealed unsightly ventilation shafts by doubling them up with the lighting systems. All lighting elements in the store are divided into 16 lighting zones that can be individually lit or dimmed. This allows store managers to control the intensity of lighting in specific parts of the store.

The overall level of lighting is adjusted automatically by programmable lighting 'scenes,' which can be set to take into account daylight levels and time.
