Buro Happold carried out the structural engineering on this award-winning office in the centre of Warsaw. The seven storey building, with its own twin level underground car park, is divided into two independent sections containing the offices of the Polish Press Agency and the Von der Heyden Group.
The project involved the demolition of a four storey 1950s housing block, which was the headquarters of the State Office for the Control of Press and Culture in Communist times.
Liberty Corner is a reinforced concrete structure that uses pre-stressed slabs to allow for a column-free, fully flexible floor plan; it's the first office building in Poland to be designed in this way. The neighbouring buildings were underpinned using a jet grouting method to maximise the use of available space in the basement.
