Because of our expertise in educational buildings, we were appointed as a key member of the team that designed a unique school in Glasgow. It was an exciting opportunity to create an innovative design, as there is no equivalent school type in Europe.
The design team developed an accessible and stimulating school environment for dual sensory and learning-impaired children. The vision was to provide a high quality, modern, enriching and inclusive environment where each child can grow and develop to their full potential. We believe that the physical design of buildings, grounds, furniture and equipment should improve rather than constrain the lives of pupils with special educational needs and disabilities. Understanding the everyday needs of disabled children and integrating this knowledge into the design process can result in some very exciting and sustainable architectural solutions.
