Buro Happold was commissioned to provide building and structural engineering services for the major extension and refurbishment of a luxury retail complex in the centre of Dubai.
The development comprises new retail malls as well as four levels of basement car parking, all of which totals approximately 152,000m2. The refurbishment of existing malls, totalling approximately 137,000m2, includes a multiplex cinema, a 23-storey office tower and conference facility, and two top quality apartment towers of 15 and 19 storeys.
The new shopping centres will include a number of leading international outlets and a health club, children's creche and swimming pool facilities, as well as internal landscaping and extensive rooftop gardens. Buro Happold also provided traffic analysis and a fire concept report for the client.
