Buro Happold provided building services engineering for four new secondary schools in Bristol, UK, under the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) umbrella.

Brislington Enterprise College, Hartcliffe Engineering Community College, Speedwell Technology College and Whitefield Fishponds Community School have all been redeveloped, and the schools all opened on schedule between autumn 2007 and 2008.

A variety of sustainable technologies were incorporated in each building, including biomass energy sources to reduce carbon emissions, exposed thermal mass, photocell bollards and rainwater recycling.
