The Bard Center for Science and Computation is in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York. Buro Happold's expertise in creating dynamic, interactive working spaces resulted in a tailor-made mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering (MEP) solution for the 50,000sq.ft teaching and laboratory facility.

Buro Happold's key driver was ensuring that laboratories and classrooms, which are interdisciplinary, increased interaction between the departments at the college. We provided the ideal solution: laboratories were based on an open plan model, with flexible loft spaces that could be adapted if necessary in the future.

The center comprises state of the art teaching rooms and laboratories for a range of disciplines including biology, computer science, biochemistry, robotics, intelligent media and voice recognition, electrophoresis and microscopy. In addition, the development contains an 80-person auditorium, two lecture rooms, offices, a laser laboratory, instrument centers, environmental rooms and a 6,000sq.ft lobby.
