Simon Wainwright
BEng (Hons) MIStructE CEng

Born 1964. Studied civil and structural engineering at Nottingham University. Simon joined Buro Happold in our Leeds office in 1989. He is a Chartered Engineer and a member of the Institution of Structural Engineers. After a spell working in Saudi Arabia with Buro Happold, Simon returned to the Leeds office and continued to contribute to the success of Buro Happold in the UK, becoming a Principal in 2004. He has been elected as an Ordinary Member of the IStructE Council from 2005 - 2008.

Simon is passionate about the quality and detail of design and believes the best solutions are achieved through the collaboration of all designers and technical specialists. He is direct in his approach and has particular skills in producing engineering excellence within a managed design process. He enjoys working across a variety of sectors, being able to share his wider experience and knowledge on procurement and delivery.

Simon continually strives with his team to deliver affordable high quality solutions. He will dedicate his talents and those of his team to ensure the client's project is successful. He thoroughly enjoys his work and proactively challenges issues to drive the right solutions. He is equally comfortable working on high level project strategy as he is developing the details of design that he firmly believes distinguishes an excellent project. Simon believes good relationships help deliver good projects. Building good communication and strong relationships within the team and with the client is the cornerstone of his approach.
