Shrikant joined Buro Happold in October 2001 and leads the SMART team, steering the development of new technology and research to deliver innovative solutions for the built environment. He has over ten years experience in the research, development and application of engineering modelling and analysis tools.

Shrikant has developed several software tools in the areas of advanced numerical analysis, complex geometry, blast modelling and crowd flow simulations. He has worked on a number of high profile projects, including passenger flow modelling for the King Abdullah International Airport Hajj Terminal. He is also leading the Sidra Trees project, driving the geometric optimisation, engineering analysis and digital fabrication of this complex, 250m long entrance structure to the new Qatar Convention Centre in Doha.

Buro Happold’s SMART team has designed a number of specialist software tools, including SmartMove, Vulcan, Tensyl and SmartForm.  The team is currently working to develop SMART GRIDS, a geometric rationalisation and optimisation engine for complex structures, and SMART Cities, a large-scale crowd simulation model for design, planning and real-time management of buildings and urban spaces
