Jim Cook, the Discipline Director for ground engineering at Buro Happold as well as being Group Director for the consultancy’s London ground engineering group, has over 30 years of ground engineering experience gained in UK and particularly overseas.

During his eight years at Buro Happold, Jim’s projects have included the Harvard Science Building in Boston, Arsenal’s new Emirates Stadium, the Kings Waterfront in Liverpool, the Folkestone Academy, as well as the Zaha Hadid designed Glasgow Museum of Transport, the Lower Lea Valley Olympic and Legacy Masterplans and Jamalco Tailings Lagoons in Jamaica.

Jim is also a fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, the Geological Society and a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Jim is currently chief executive of Association of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Specialists and Chairman Elect of UK’s Ground Forum.

Buro Happold’s geotechnical engineers are involved at an early stage of the design process to evaluate the subsoil and identify solutions for deep and shallow foundations. Working within the overall multi-disciplinary environment, Buro Happold specialist engineers provide a quality service across a diverse range of sectors including low and high-rise buildings, brownfield regeneration sites, waterside developments, transport buildings, bridges and highways. The group operates throughout the UK as well as in Europe, the Middle East and the USA.
