Hugh Mallett, an engineering geologist with over 30 years experience, joined Buro Happold in 2006 to lead the ground engineering team involved in the project management, investigation and assessment of contaminated sites prior to acquisition, reclamation or redevelopment.
Hugh has over 16 years’ experience in land projects on sites affected by toxic, chemical and landfill gas contamination. He has prepared expert witness evidence and best practice guidance, delivered training on and made many presentations to both technical and non specialist audiences on contaminated land matters.
Since his appointment, Hugh has been involved in many high profile projects, including the O2 Arena development in London and the Bath Western Riverside project.
Buro Happold’s geotechnical engineers are involved at an early stage of the design process to evaluate the subsoil and identify solutions for deep and shallow foundations. Working within the overall multi-disciplinary environment, our specialist engineers provide a quality service across a diverse range of sectors including low and high-rise buildings, brownfield regeneration sites, waterside developments, transport buildings, bridges and highways. The group operates throughout the UK as well as in Europe, the Middle East and the USA.
