Davood Liaghat
Technical Director
Bridge Engineering
Bridges and Civil Engineering Structures Group, London

Davood Liaghat has over 15 years’ experience in bridge engineering. He joined Buro Happold in 1999, and is responsible for procuring and managing bridge engineering consultancy work, inspection, technical assessment and analysis of all bridge projects for the company.

Davood has been involved in many high-profile projects, including the design of Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium pedestrian bridges, which connect the new stadium to nearby Drayton Park and the Arsenal underground station, and also the New Charles River pedestrian bridge in Boston, part of the largest public infrastructure project currently underway in the US.

New bridge design is dictated by its intended purpose, its location and the predicted loading on its structure. Buro Happold uses the latest techniques and materials to build slimmer, lighter more aesthetic structures that help to create a unique ‘sense of place’. Experience covers light span pedestrian bridges, steel and concrete road and highway bridges, rail bridges and temporary bridges. Commissions are undertaken for a variety of clients worldwide in both the public and private sectors.
