Fire Engineering Design and Risk Assessment (FEDRA), London
Andy Nicholson graduated from the University of Leeds with a specialist fire engineering degree in 1997 and subsequently joined Buro Happold FEDRA as a fire engineer. Andy has wide knowledge of all aspects of fire safety, and his responsibilities include managing the financial aspects and general day-to-day running of projects.
Andy has been involved in many high profile projects, including the Millennium Dome in London, Keresley Park in Coventry and new buildings at the University of Cambridge. He was also involved in the BBC White City project in London, to re-develop the site next to the existing television centre. Andy designed and procured a detailed fire strategy in addition to providing advice on fire safety for the technical broadcasting areas and large atria.
A fire safety strategy needs to be incorporated on every building project in order to ensure the safety of occupants and property, obtain regulatory approvals and protect business continuity. Buro Happold’s FEDRA group delivers creative design solutions that help to bring the architectural vision to life and which are practical and realistic to manage once the building is occupied.
