Specialist Consulting Group, London

Andrew Cripps, chartered physicist and engineer, joined Buro Happold’s London office in 1998. He leads the sustainability and alternative technologies group, aiming to deliver more sustainable projects across the practice. He is also responsible for Buro Happold’s research, development and innovation activities in this area.

Andrew has been involved in a number of high-profile projects, including the Westborough cardboard school project, in Westcliff-on-Sea, where cardboard was used as a building material. He has also worked on the study of the use of phase change materials to provide low input cooling to buildings.

Buro Happold’s sustainability and alternative technologies group delivers environmentally sustainable solutions that harness low and zero carbon (LZC) energy sources. These include renewables and combined heat and power (CHP) systems which mitigate the environmental impact of buildings, as well as adding value through energy security, whole life cost savings and positive publicity.
