Our over-riding aim is to be the consultant of choice for employees, to be renowned as a supportive organisation and one that is keen for individuals to develop their chosen career path.
Our people are encouraged to share with colleagues the lessons they have learnt from project work, by attending seminars, conferences and professional meetings. Information can be passed on through internal presentations, informal talks, site visits and through the practice’s intranet, Magellan, which features centres of excellence focused around disciplines and sectors.
That we hold Investor in People accreditation emphasises the strength of our commitment to our people. Buro Happold was one of the first organisations in the construction industry to receive this valued mark of approval.
As part of the project lifecycle we routinely conduct completion de-briefs to uncover and pass on the lessons that have been learnt. We also hold design reviews and workshops on a regular basis enabling senior staff to provide valuable input into project design. We encourage debate and discussion amongst staff which is a significant contribution to the continual improvement process.
We are also committed to the professional development of our people, monitored through an annual assessment and review process. This system ensures that everyone receives an appropriate level and type of training at the time they need it. We encourage people to achieve chartered status and provide training towards ICE, CIBSE, or IstructE membership under accredited schemes.
In addition we offer regular training programmes for all levels of staff, helping them to grow and maintain skills and to keep up to date with current industry trends and developments.
We provide specially developed training programmes for the roles of job leader and project leader, which are specific to Buro Happold and are delivered by senior staff. Our belief is that this training enables the practice to deliver technical consultancy of the highest quality and is vital in allowing us to meet the objectives of clients and markets alike.
