Buro Happold’s Teds Take to Engineering

Staff at Buro Happold Bath today raised over £350 for the Royal United Hospital’s Forever Friends appeal, giving their teds a big day out at the engineering firm.

Staff bringing their bears to work were asked to donate £1 to the charity and also paid £1 to wear casual clothes for the day. Sports gear was the designated casual dress code with rugby and soccer shirts proving a popular choice. Jayne Hawkins, a member of Buro Happold’s personnel team, braved the cold and turned up in her football kit, complete with shorts and shin pads, while the event’s organiser, Leyla Tugwell, with colleague, Kate Miller, donned full Tae Kwon Do gear.

The company donated a day off work as the star prize in a raffle held on the day, which is being drawn Friday afternoon.

Buro Happold partner, Gavin Thompson, who brought three bears to the office, one appropriately dressed for construction work in dungarees, said: “Well done to everyone who’s joined in today’s fundraising for the RUH, not just those here at Buro Happold but people across the region.”

Through today’s efforts The Forever Friends Appeal hopes to raise £100,000 towards a target of £10 million for state-of-the-art medical equipment, over and above that provided by the NHS, to provide the best care for cancer, paediatric, cardiology and critical care patients.
