Plasma Studio, winner of the Next Generation ‘Pipers Award for exceptional work’ at Mipim 2008, to preview new installation on Tuesday 1st April.
Founded by Eva Castro and Holger Kehne in 1999, London-based Plasma Studio has developed a reputation as a practice committed to computer-aided design and formal innovation – it has also been described as the kind of practice for which the phrase ‘cutting edge’ could have been invented.
Since winning BD’s Young Architect of the Year in 2002, Plasma Studio has completed a series of projects in Italy, where it now has a second office. It also joined Zaha Hadid, Norman Foster and Jean Nouvel in designing one of the floors of Madrid’s ‘Hotel Puerta America’.
Now, on the back of the practice’s recent award (sponsored by BD magazine, the Architecture Foundation and property company Pipers), its inclusion on the Olympic Village framework and the success of its sister company (The ‘Groundlab Collective’) in winning the design competition for the ‘Deep Ground Project’ in China, Plasma Studio will showcase its current work at a Buro Happold-hosted installation.
“Buro Happold has set up this exhibition series to foster new links and inspire discussion between architects, engineers and other built environment professionals,” says Wolf Mangelsdorf, Buro Happold’s London structures group director. “Previous launch events and exhibitions have been extremely well attended and supported to date.”
The exhibition is open to the public at Buro Happold’s office (17 Newman Street, London, W1T 1PD) on weekdays between 9am to 5.30pm (the closest tube stations are Tottenham Court Road, Goodge Street and Oxford Circus). The exhibition runs until 18th April.
