Happold Safe and Secure team win major security award second year running

Since its set up in 2000, Buro Happold’s specialist consulting security team has gone from strength to strength culminating this month in winning the prestigious Security Consultant of the Year award for the second year running.

In their first year of trading as an independent consultancy, 2007, Happold Safe and Secure won Security Management Today’s coveted Security Consultant of the Year for the first time - a testament to the team’s commitment and wide range of capabilities. They have followed on from this success to win the award once again this year, beating strong competition, including Arup and TPS (Carillion) to achieve the industry’s top accolade.

The aim of the awards is to recognise companies and individuals who have demonstrated outstanding professionalism in the world of security. The judging panel, made up of industry representatives, commended the Buro Happold team for its wide ranging experience, which includes projects such as the Louvre Abu Dhabi and the Grand Egyptian Museum through to Reading Civic Centre and Islington Academy.

One of Happold Safe and Secure’s key competencies is their understanding of the need to integrate several disciplines together to ensure the whole spectrum of the built environment is taken in to account when developing solutions for their clients. These disciplines include fire engineering, inclusive design, crowd movement and evacuation, IT and communications, health and safety, blast assessment and façade design, building management and security, enabling the practice to build and deliver all-encompassing solutions.

Associate Andrew Sieradzki was at the ceremony to collect the award. He says, “Winning a second time shows our standing in this industry and also how far we’ve come within the eight years since Happold Safe and Secure was formed. We couldn’t have achieved this without a team effort and it’s a reflection of the hard work that all of our staff have put in”.

He added “There’s greater awareness both within Buro Happold and externally now, that security strategy must think beyond the building itself, to reflect our clients’ businesses and processes. Within Happold Safe and Secure we consider all aspects of the building process, always with a mind to the bigger picture and that our input will have a lasting effect long after construction has finished.”
