New associate director joins building services division
Buro Happold is delighted to welcome Derek Wilson on board, as a new associate director to head up the Birmingham Building Services division.
With over three decades’ experience in the field, Derek will be leading the Birmingham office’s team and hopes to develop local capacity, both in terms of design and business development.
Derek previously worked as a project director with Cudd Bentley Consulting for nearly twenty years, and one of his most recent projects involved heading up the building services design for a new shopping centre in Bradford.
“We are proud to welcome Derek to the company, and given his previous success across a variety of sectors, we are sure he will be a great asset to Buro Happold,” said Tony McLaughlin, partner and building services director with the firm.
Derek has worked on the building services provision for five star hotels and major retail developments; leisure centres and hi-tech data and internet hosting centres, for a variety of blue chip companies, with a history of successful delivery leading to repeat business.
“My passion and focus is on delivering both appropriate and energy-efficient solutions through high-quality design and application, to satisfy clients’ needs,” he said. “I hope to put the variety of my experience to Buro Happold’s benefit, and to continue the vital work of promoting sustainable solutions for energy usage.”
