Happold Safe and Secure Ltd is launched
International multi-disciplinary consulting engineer, Buro Happold recently announced the launch of Happold Safe & Secure Ltd (HS&S). Formerly known as Buro Happold’s specialist consulting security team, HS&S is now an independent consultancy.
The company was created in response to increasing demands by clients for a range of expertise across the safety and security services industry. In line with the Buro Happold culture, it aims to provide technical advice with an open, client-centred and collaborative approach to delivery.
Mark Whitaker, who currently leads the security group, will be responsible for running HS&S, with support from teams in Bath and London. Mark said: “Although independent, Happold Safe & Secure Ltd will remain an integral part of the Buro Happold ‘family’. It will deliver services and advice as part of a multi-disciplinary team. We believe this approach is vital to our continued success.
“Buro Happold prides itself on finding cutting-edge solutions, and we envisage that our increased ability to provide counter-terrorism advice, will allow us to remain at the fore in providing solutions to contemporary issues.”
The new service will also facilitate close co-operation between other specialist services in the practice. This includes the Fire Engineering Design and Risk Assessment group (FEDRA), the Inclusive Design team who aim to ensure that the requirements of disabled people are included in the early stages of a project, and Crowd and People Movement.
The HS&S management team also contains Bob Holmwood leading on security strategy and Andrew Sieradzki on security technology.
