Buro Happold’s environmental team is strengthened

Appointment of Lesley Dinnett reflects commitment to full multi-disciplinary service

International multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy Buro Happold has appointed associate Lesley Dinnett to develop the environmental team in Glasgow.

Lesley has worked in environmental consultancy for over 12 years. She has extensive experience in conducting contaminated land risk assessments and environmental impact assessments (EIA) for redevelopment projects on greenfield and brownfield sites, with a particular focus on the water environment and land quality. She has worked on projects that also include specific issues relating to ecology and archaeology, for example listed buildings.

The addition of Lesley to the civil and structural engineering team illustrates Buro Happold’s commitment to providing a full multi-disciplinary service. She will be involved in masterplanning and environmental planning projects, working closely with the infrastructure teams in Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Lesley says: “I am looking forward to involvement in a variety of projects with Buro Happold. Although I have worked on extensive masterplanning and environmental assessments in the past, I have not been involved in projects overseas and I am particularly excited about that prospect.”

The team is currently working on inputting to masterplans for various projects including large scale sustainable housing developments in Ayrshire. It is also working with the structures teams in Glasgow and Denmark on a new Children’s Discovery Centre in Syria and associated public realm works, including specific considerations relating to water resources. In addition, the team is providing support for several developments including the Greenock Arts Guild site, developed over an infilled dock, various projects for the expansion of the University of Strathclyde campus, the development of a brownfield site for residential purposes in Clydebank and a new archive building for the Royal Commission on Ancient and Historic Monuments Scotland.

The Buro Happold environment group is involved in multi-disciplinary scoping and impact assessment projects. It draws on a comprehensive range of in-house skills to deliver projects ranging from urban design and sustainable masterplanning, to land quality assessment and regeneration, ecology, climate, energy issues, traffic and transport planning to water issues and construction management.
