Increased demand for infrastructure expertise sees transportation group grow
Buro Happold’s transport planning capability has been boosted with the appointment of Gerry Prodohl as Director of Transportation and Highways within its Infrastructure group.
Prodohl will oversee expansion of Buro Happold’s integrated transport planning, traffic engineering and highway design services across the practice.
He brings over 25 years of experience in transportation planning and engineering to the practice, having worked on a range of projects; from assessment of small developments to directing the transport input of major infrastructure schemes.
As well as his extensive experience of the private sector, Prodohl has also worked in the public sector – immediately prior to this appointment he was responsible for the Highway Development Control function at Gloucestershire County Council.
“I’m looking forward to working on the huge variety of work Buro Happold is involved in, and particularly its regeneration work. The opportunity to co-ordinate transportation and highways design, with support from colleagues in the Environment, Masterplanning and Infrastructure teams, means that we can offer comprehensive solutions to the most complex development projects.
“I also believe that my recent local government experience will add a new and practical perspective to our work and better enable us to secure the outcomes that our clients need,” says Prodohl.
Projects Prodohl has already started work on include: providing strategic transport advice to the Municipality of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia as part of its 20-year vision for the city, the co-ordination of highways and transport input for the Hayle Harbour development in Cornwall and a number of projects in Dublin and Cork.
The appointment is the latest to the transport team, which has seen strategic growth throughout the last year in response to greater demand for Buro Happold’s infrastructure expertise.
