Emerging Engineering Design Award

Emerging Engineering Design Award

Win £5000 and prove that YOU are the best young civils designer around

Closing date for entries 28 July

It is time to get your entry in to the first ever Emerging Engineering Design Award. Entries are being sought from civils designers under 40, and there is £5000 up for grabs for the winner, as well as the kudos of being crowned the best of your generation.

The competition is intended to showcase just how inspirational, innovative and all round clever youthful civil engineering designers can be when overcoming the challenges of modern infrastructure work.

Entries should be of a design in which you have played a leading role. It could be for a whole project or part of a project, can be located anywhere in the world, but must have been formally commissioned or completed between 30 April 2004 and 30 April 2006.

Judges are looking for evidence of your passion and ability to communicate your understanding of the problems you’ve been asked to design for and the elegant solution that you developed. You’ll need to communicate this through sketches, developed designs and words (but not too many of latter).

Judges are seeking innovation, evidence of your ability to communicate the value of your engineering solution to the end user, a broad understanding of the issues of sustainability and last but not least, that your design met and improved the original brief.

The award is organised by New Civil Engineer in association with Buro Happold. Full details and an entry form are at www.nceplus.co.uk/eeda.

This could be your moment. Grab your opportunity now. Closing date for entries 28 July.
