Buro Happold to host CPD Seminar

22 July 2005

David Stribling, group manager for CoSA Solutions, a specialist group within Buro Happold, is presenting a one day CPD course in Room Airflow Design at Glasgow Caledonian University.

The course takes place on Tuesday, 13 September and will introduce the subject of CFD Modelling (Computational Fluid Dynamics) in the context of the built environment. Rather than being a software training course in any particular analysis package, the seminar will provide attendees with a far broader understanding of CFD techniques and room airflow design.
At the end of the day attendees will gain:-
• Some background to the evolution and use of CFD techniques.
• A broad understanding of the mathematical basis for the technique.
• An appreciation of the advantages, limitations and quality issues associated with airflow simulation.
• Experience of the use of CFD Simulation in the construction industry through presentation of case studies.
• Knowledge of the types of behaviour of room airflow in the context of ventilation system design.
• An insight into the capabilities of a commercially available software package through a demonstration.

This seminar is aimed at building services engineers from consultancies, and contractors, local authorities and architects.

David is based at Buro Happold’s Glasgow office. He is an expert in CFD, holding a PhD from Brunel University in the application of CFD for the internal environment in supermarkets and has previously worked for a CFD software vendor. CoSA Solutions is a specialised engineering and building analysis group that quantifies the future performance of a building during the design process.

The course will be held on Tuesday 13 September from 09:00 – 17:00 in the Britannia Building of the Glasgow Caledonian University and costs £200 + VAT to attend. Bookings should be made through Pamela Thomson at Pamela.Thomson@gcal.ac.uk
