Fire Safety Engineering Design Award for Buro Happold

Buro Happold FEDRA was named as joint winner in the annual Fire Safety Engineering Awards for its fire engineering work at the Domestic Finishing Mill, Anchor Mills, Paisley.  The award was presented at a ceremony held at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole on the 20th May 2003.

The Glasgow based fire engineering team developed a fire safety strategy to the complete satisfaction of the local authority Building Control Department and Fire Authority. Fire safety technical reports were prepared to justify and substantiate relaxation of Technical Standard requirements on a number of key design issues such as structural fire protection and a 5-storey open atrium space.

The former Domestic Finishing Mill in Paisley’s Anchor Mills complex is being restored by Persimmon Homes with the support of The Phoenix Trust (a charity established by HRH The Prince of Wales, Duke of Rothsay) to form 60 quality residential apartments and 23,000 sq ft of business space.
