Buro Happold provides engineering to five Civic Trust Award-winning buildings

Projects involving work by consulting engineers Buro Happold won five awards last night at the Civic Trust Awards 2002.

Wildscreen At Bristol, designed by Michael Hopkins & Partners, for which Buro Happold provided structural, building services and civil engineering, was joint winner of the Civic Trust Urban Design Award 2002, sponsored by the DTLR. The judges said that At Bristol had contributed significantly to the development of the city of Bristol.

Buro Happold was also responsible for the structural and building services engineering on four other Civic Trust Award 2002 winners:

The Foster and Partners-designed Queen Elizabeth II Great Court at the British Museum in London, described by the judges as ‘an outstanding piece of architecture’; The Lowry, Salford, by architects Michael Wilford & Partners, called a ‘beacon for regeneration in Salford’ by the judges; the ‘stunning and successful’ Pringle Richards Sharratt-designed Sheffield Millennium Galleries; and the Lakeside Residences at Aston University by Feilden Clegg Bradley Architects, ‘exceptional buildings that contribute to the improvement of the city centre’ of Birmingham.

Peter Moseley, Buro Happold partner, said of Wildscreen, 'We are delighted to be associated with a project which not only contributes to the regeneration of the Bristol harbourside area in an educational context, but which also embodies and demonstrates much of the Buro Happold approach to environmentally responsible, sustainable design.'
