Buro Happold associate wins Young Consulting Engineer of the Year prize
Building services engineer and Buro Happold associate, Doug King, was named the Young Consulting Engineer of the Year for 2002 at the Association of Consulting Engineers (ACE) annual lunch on 26 April 2002 at the Hotel Intercontinental in London.
King, 34, was presented with a silver medal and a cheque for £1,000 by Andrew Jackson, master of the Worshipful Company of Engineers, who jointly run the award with ACE. Jackson, who was also one of the award judges, commented, ‘Doug impressed us with his report, Future Directions for Consulting Engineering, which presented his views and aspirations for the profession with great clarity and insight.’
There were four other finalists who received certificates at the lunch before a 300-strong industry audience. They were Jim Bell, design team leader, Connell Mott Macdonald, Andrew Bradley, associate director, Hully and Kirkwood Ltd, Cheren Patel, graduate engineer, WS Atkins and Mark Tindale, graduate engineer at Arup.
