Buro Happold consolidates success
Managing Partner of multi-disciplinary engineers Buro Happold Padraic Kelly has announced another outstanding year for the practice.
Managing Partner of multi-disciplinary engineers Buro Happold Padraic Kelly has announced another outstanding year for the practice. The company's annual review, published this week, shows the financial strength of the practice has continued to improve, recording a fee income of £24.3m for the year ended 30 April 1999.
“Fee income for the previous year, ending April 1998, was £16.7m. Buro Happold worldwide achieved a comfortable 45% increase in fee income during the last financial year,” says Kelly. “These pleasing results reflect both an increase in our work, and the great range and quality of the projects where we were commissioned as part of the design team.”
“The year saw significant investments across the practice, underlining the corporate plan for growth. Our growth has been achieved organically and seamlessly as we believe that we can better serve our clients by continuing to provide services as an independent firm. Our policy of providing high quality core services through regional offices, supplemented by specialist engineering and consultancy has proved very popular. “
“It has been our policy for some years now to increase cross-border design team relationships. Working internationally allows us to better ride the cyclic nature of the world-wide construction market. While the value of our work has increased substantially, the percentage of work contributed from international activity has remained at approximately 30%, mainly due to the very strong performance of our UK operations.”
Kelly concludes “We anticipate further growth for the practice in the short term, though the rate of growth is likely to be lower than in the previous two years. Our strategy of closely managed development will enable us to consolidate the significant progress that we have made.”
